About Us

With more than 16 years of experience and over 2,800 members across the UK and Asia, the Financial Times Board Director Programme runs a number of workshops, networking events and formal courses in London and Hong Kong designed for aspiring and existing directors who are looking to develop their career and expand their professional network. The programmes bring high-profile, experienced and dynamic tutors who are experts in their field and bring unique real-life experience and case studies to the agenda.

The FT Non-Executive Director Diploma

The Diploma is a formally accredited postgraduate masters level 7 qualification created to fully equip existing or aspiring non-executives with the skills needed for the role. It is the only formal qualification designed specifically for non-executives and is recognised by many chairmen, company secretaries, headhunters and professional bodies as the most robust training offered to independent directors. It is also highly valuable to individuals who are serious about developing a portfolio career or organisations looking to improve on the skills of their current board members.

The FT Board Director Programme regularly runs two public workshops throughout the year.

So You Want to be a NED? is a half-day to one-day workshop aimed at aspiring trustees and non-executives who are keen to find out more about the role and the duties and responsibilities of an independent director.

The Effective Non-Executive Director is an intense two-day programme designed for individuals newly appointed to a board or current non-executives who wish to further develop their skills. Topics covered in our workshops include board dynamics, governance law, duties and liabilities, behavioural style and how to secure your next board position.

Bespoke Training

We can also offer bespoke tailored programmes for company boards and executives using our existing faculty, all of whom are experienced Chairmen, Non-Execs and Board Evaluators. To discuss what we can do for your organisation please contact us.

Networking and Content

The FT Board Director Programme has, over the past 16 years, built a very exclusive community of experienced and highly effective non-executive directors and trustees. Members of our community are invited to regular networking evenings with the highest calibre of speakers and also receive our unique monthly digital newsletter which includes the latest updates in legislation, governance news and job opportunities.

Membership of the FT Non Executive Director Club is now exclusive to participants of any of our public workshops or graduates of our FT Non-Executive Director Diploma.
