The fifth course in a series of half-day workshops designed for professionals with board experience who are interested in staying up to date with the latest developments which affect their board roles.

The workshop is designed to be interactive and is run by recognised experts in their field.

The sessions are followed by networking drinks to give you the opportunity to meet informally with our speakers and fellow delegates.

Attendance at each workshop will entitle attendees to receive a special FT NED Programme Board Masterclass Certificate of Continuing Professional Development for 5 hours of structured learning.

  • Appreciate why prevention matters at least as much as crisis preparedness and management
  • Gain insights from real-life examples where it all went wrong

Content

You lose your reputation when the perception of your performance or behaviour fails to meet stakeholder expectations.  When reputational risks damage your reputation, you will face costly consequences. These include increased pressure from stakeholders such as customers, employees, lenders, shareholders, regulators and politicians as well as loss of pricing power, lost revenue, increased operating costs, attacks on the board, destruction of shareholder value, opportunistic predation and insolvency.

Participants will learn how to find and see the unrecognised classes of risks that can destroy their businesses, their reputations and ultimately their careers.

They will learn about the behavioural and organisational drivers of reputational risk, why these risks and drivers are hard to find and how bring them under control. They will look at governance practicalities and the roles played by executives, non-executives and Chairs.

Anthony Fitzsimmons starts the workshop off by setting out the real sources of reputational risk, why they are hard to find and how to deal with them. Working in small groups and facilitated by Anthony, participants then work through a case study based on a real life example which brings the issue to life.

The workshop finishes with a panel discussion of experienced non-executives.
